AS early as the fifteenth century the wine makers
of Sant’Angelo in Vado were purveyors of the Holy See;
they supplied Vino Santo, outstanding produce of the Vado hills.
The Vino Santo of Sant’Angelo In Vado is typified,
as sanctioned by secular tradition, by the drying up of grapes in large kitchens,
dominated by the fireplace. Sweet wine, golden hued,
at times bordering on amber, delicate and elegant;
a wine renown for its singular ability to lead to meditation and elicit
unique and pleasurable sensations, with aromas that range from honey to ripe fruit,
from blossoms to amiable smoke-scented.

Our Firm
The grape and wine producing La MONTATA Estate is located in the northern area of Sant’Angelo in Vado, within the Province of Pesaro-Urbino in the Montefeltro Region and is part of the MASSA TRABARIA district in the Upper Valley of Metauro.
Entirely sheltered from the northerly winds, part of its vineyards stand at an altitude of approx. 400m above sea level, with a S-S-W exposure that enjoys , in summer, the cool Apennine which lowers the humidity level, typical of the area , in very hot days and in September, an exceptional temperature drift which is ideal in the exaltation of the perfumes.
The most important plant for the future development of the firm is located at about 8 km from the town at about 500 metres above sea level in an area known as CAPANNE on very favourable grounds for viticulture, with optimal exposure and ventilation.
The established and new cépage variety includes Trebbiano Toscano, Muscat petit Grain, Sauvignon, Bruni Cross for Whites; Sangiovese, Alicante, Aleatico, Montepulciano for the Reds. Yet the singular trait of our firm is the preservation of buds from the old vines of the area in order to maintain the features of the plants which make for the unique output of truly outstanding wines.

This firm’s mission, ever since its birth, is to introduce exclusive products, the “niche” as some would have it, transmitting the great passion for wines to the end result, in full awareness of the unique outcome.

The future is the willingness to keep searching, restoring, or better still, promote our territory, its history, its traditions... and its products.
The projects involve planting new vines which will allow our limited output to gain recognition and appreciation whilst scrupulously maintaining the craftsmanship though which our wines will keep their standing in time.
We will keep offering genuine , real, natural wines, without filtering so as not to sacrifice character, the Vado personality... and if it is not a good year ... we will reduce production and some of the wines will not be bottled unless if they do not meet the desired standards.
From the same soil that gives the Precious White Truffle, comes a white wine that accompanies it ... into the kitchen and extols its versatility ... where else, if not in Sant’Angelo in Vado would one expect this to happen?
And where ... will the Passito Rosso wine come back, if not to Sant’Angelo in Vado, principal location of the Massa Trabaria district, where it was produced for centuries...
LA MONTATA Estate is bent on making all this real and to lead these Vado hills into the production for which they’re best endowed ... wine.
